President Donald J. Trump is not denigrating the concept of a “Free Press” as his vicious critics are asserting.
What he is doing is showcasing and attacking the corruption by reporters and journalists who are violating their professional commitment to objectivity and fairness, a corruption that is disabling a free press, especially in America.
The mainstream American news media for decades has engaged in the fomenting of crisis, fueling racism and hatred to generate cheap and fast news. The primary fuel of racism against Arabs and Muslims in America has been the vicious stereotypes that the mainstream news media has portrayed of Muslims and Arabs and people from the Middle East.
The mainstream news media is denigrating itself through its practices of biased news coverage, through the exclusion of certain issues and groups from their coverage, by narrowing the discussion and debate to exclude individuals and groups that the media dislikes or marginalizes.
ABC This Week Guest Host led the charge this past week when he asserted that there is no shortage of outrage over President Trump’s statements on the press.
The Boston Globe Newspaper, which has published some of the most vicious anti-Muslim and anti-Arab editorials and which has, like many major newspapers including the New York Times and the Washington Post, have restricted or blocked voices of Arabs and Muslims who have challenged their bias, has falsely asserted that Trump’s criticism of the media is an “attack on the free press.”
Many critics have falsely compared Trump to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who during the early Obama administration
That’s what the biased mainstream news media does. They twist the issues and facts to cater to their arguments so they can make their arguments more acceptable and believable.
President Trump is attacking the bias and lies being published
in the news media and the news media’s failure to be
objective and fair, and to separate opinion from news reporting.
But the news media is falsely and misleadingly characterizing
President Trump’s actions as attacking a “free press,”
which is entirely different.
For example, if Trump was attacking the concept of the Free Press, we would all be denouncing him. But what does that mean to attack the “Free Press.” Attacking the Free Press means preventing the news media from doing its job the right way.
A free press requires that journalists and reporters act professionally and ethically. That means reporters and journalists who report the News do not inject their opinions into their news reporting. It means reporters and journalists who report the News avoid crafting stories to reflect their views, their likes or dislikes. It means reporters and journalists who report the News must present all sides of the news fairly and accurately and not twist facts.
Claiming Trump is attacking the “Free Press” is twisting the facts in the most obvious and blatant manner. It’s a lie, a distortion, a falsehood.
President Trump is attacking the Bias in the News Media, not attacking the goal of achieving a free press. Trump is not calling for the suspension of the principles of journalism to have access to facts and to report the truth. He wants the media to report the truth.
What President Trump is doing is attacking the practice of the mainstream American news media to distort facts and twist facts to reflect their personal editorial views.
President Trump is attacking the bias and lies being published in the news media and the news media’s failure to be objective and fair, and to separate opinion from news reporting. But the news media is falsely and misleadingly characterizing President Trump’s actions as attacking a “free press,” which is entirely different.
THAT is what the mainstream news media does all the time now.
There must be a separation between reporters and journalists and those writes who write their opinions, their commentaries and their own views.
In other words, President Trump insists and has the right to demand that the media separate opinion and commentary from their news reporting on his administration.
Keeping opinion, which is partisan and bias, out of the news reporting, which is supposed to be objective, balanced, inclusive and truthful, is the most important goal that President Trump is pursuing by challenging the news media.
The news media has been a corrupt rhetorically violent mafia for years. They attack those that attack them. They love to criticize others but they can’t take the criticism themselves.
When you criticize the biased news media, which is honestly thinned skinned professionally, they retaliate by excluding you, targeting you, attacking you, falsely reporting on you and twisting the facts.
What President Trump is doing is not destroying the free press. What President Trump is doing is to restore the principles that make a free press free.
We need to fight with President Trump and join this crusade to challenge news media lies and distortions. The enemy today is the biased and racist mainstream news media. The enemy is not the “free press” because most of today’s news media is so unprofessional and corrupted that it can’t be called a truly free press.
President Trump is going to make the free press truly free.
